Student Microsoft 365 & Email Accounts

Cambrian College students are provided with a Microsoft 365 account that includes:

  • An @mycambrian.ca email address
  • web-based Office applications
  • A downloadable version of the Office Suite
  • Online file storage (OneDrive - 5TB)

To sign into your email, download office, or access any other features available through this account visit https://portal.office.com  .

 

Your student email is created after you have fully registered which includes picking your classes or block of classes.

 

How to Sign into your Microsoft 365 Account

  1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com using any web browser. 
  2. Login with your A########@mycambrian.ca account; this is the same as your student number with @mycambrian.ca added at the end. Click Next
  3. Enter your password, this is the same as your Computer, Wifi, and AppsAnywhere password.

    If you have never signed into any of these before your default password is your Date of Birth in the format MMDDYY. For information on our password policies and picking a new password you can visit our Password Requirement page
    For a password reset your can call the IT Service Desk  at 705-566-8101 x7370 or log a Service Request with us. 
  4. If you are signing in for the first time you will be prompted to setup a second form of authentication, you must setup one of the 3 options. Then click Finish or Looks Good . This will let you reset your password on your own.

As of November 2023, Cambrian College will be implementing mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication for all students. Looking up your email address

Your A######## and student email address are different. To quickly look up your student email address:

  1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com using any web browser and follow the above for how to sign in.
  2. Click on your initials in the top right hand corner and select on View Account.
  3. From here you can see your email in the upper left area of your screen, below your name.
  4. You can also change your password, update security info including phone number/alternative email, and view devices you are signed into from this page.

Accessing your email

1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com using any web browser. 

2. From the Microsoft 365 welcome page click the "Outlook" icon in the left menu to access your mailbox (or the Outlook App can be found in the "Apps" list noted below.)

3.  Once the Outlook App is open you can review and compose email from your personalized Cambrian mailbox.

Installing the Office Suite

In addition to the web version you can also download and install the office suite.

  1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com using any web browser and follow the above for how to sign in.
  2. Click on Install Apps in the top right hand portion of the screen.
  3. Click on Microsoft 365 Apps
  4. Open the installer that downloads and follow the on screen instructions.
  5. After installing it will ask you to sign into the Office applications, it is the same username (A########@mycambrian.ca) and password we've been using for this article. This will license the product. 

How to Reset your password

The first time you signed in you would've been prompted to setup a second factor of authentication to reset your password. 

  1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com using any web browser.
  2. Enter your A########@mycambrian.ca account. Click Next
  3. Click on Forgot my password 
  4. Enter the characters in the picture or the words in the audio. Click Next
  5. Follow the on screen instructions, in this case we have setup a phone number and it will text us a code. 
  6. Create a new strong password. Then click Finish. For information on our password policies and picking a new password you can visit our Password Requirement page
  7. Select Click Here to get back into your account.

How add your College email to a mobile device

  1. Download the outlook mobile app from the Apple App store or Google Play store. You will see it is published by Microsoft Corporation.
  2. Open the application.
  3. Click on Add Account.
  4. Enter your A########@mycambrian.ca account and the click Continue.
  5. You will be prompted with a Microsoft login page. This will be your email password (which is the same as the computers on campus, wifi and Apps Anywhere). Click Sign In after putting in your password.
  6. Click on Maybe Later to adding an additional account.
  7. Navigate your email; it may take a bit of time for your emails to sync.
