What is a META Shell?

A META Shell is a course shell used when instructors are teaching multiple groups (CRNs) of the same course within the same term. Instead of managing content separately for each CRN, instructors can use a META Shell to streamline course administration.

How a META Shell Works

The META Shell acts as a central hub where all course content is housed.

Individual CRN shells remain blank and only contain links directing students to the META Shell.

This setup allows instructors to update content only once, reducing redundancy and ensuring consistency across all sections.

Requesting a META Shell

To request a META Shell, instructors should submit a request through the Moodle Content Support Request Form.

Combining eGrades for META Shells

When using a META Shell, eGrades still need to be reported for each individual CRN. Instructors can follow the step-by-step guide on Combining eGrades to streamline this process by combining their eGrades templates.
