AppsAnywhere - FAQs

How do I access AppsAnywhere?

http://appsanywhere.cambriancollege.ca/

What credentials do I use to sign into AppsAnywhere?

You use your Cambrian network credentials - your 'A' number (ie A00000001) and your password to sign into the computers/wifi on campus. This is also the same password that is synced to your Office 365 subscription. You can contact the IT Servicedesk at x7370 to have your password reset if required.

I'm not seeing any applications in the portal, what do I do?

If you see something similar to the below screen, it means the logged in user has no applications assigned. Please contact your instructor or the IT Servicedesk to investigate.

How do I download and install the AppsAnywhere client?

You will be prompted to install the Cloudpaging Player when you first sign into the AppsAnywhere portal. Please see the following solution for detailed instructions: https://cambriancollege.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/129/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=2518

Why do I need to validate my session?

Validating your session will let the AppsAnywhere portal know if you're on campus or not, the type of operating system you're using, and who you are. This information will let AppsAnywhere know which applications you are allowed to launch.

I was unable to validate AppsAnywhere, now what?

If you are using your personal computer, you will need to install the AppsAnywhere client and ensure you are connected to the internet (see the previous FAQ question).
If the AppsAnywhere client is already installed, try a different browser.
If validation still continues to fail, restart the computer and try again. Please contact the IT Servicedesk afterwards if the issue persists.

How do I find the software I need to use?

Use the search bar in the top right-hand corner of the page to search AppsAnywhere for the title you need. Click the title's name to open.

Can I pin/favourite apps?

You can add software you use regularly to your Favourites by hovering over it and selecting the star in the top-right corner.

Do I have to access my apps from the portal/website every time?

No. If you have already downloaded the software to your Cloudpaging Player, you should be able to just click the Launch button within the Player. You can also use the Start menu shortcut to run the application.

An application that I've installed from the AppsAnywhere portal will no longer launch. What do I do?

Simply stop and remove the application in question from the Cloudpaging Player, then download it again from the AppsAnywhere website.

Some of my applications are not working properly. How are strange behaviour issues typically resolved?

The Cloudpaging Player has a cache where it stores temporary files. This will sometimes need clearing out to resolve random issues:

Open the Cloudpaging Player. Click File, Options.
Click the Cache tab, then “Clear Cache” button.

Does AppsAnywhere work on Macs?

If you're using a Mac, you'll be able to access the AppsAnywhere portal but may find that the experience is different than if you were on a Windows PC. AppsAnywhere is a primarily Windows-based platform, so in some cases we will only be able to provide a direct download link for the Mac version of the software for you to install (if available). In most cases, there is no option to run the software due to compatibility issues.

Some applications won't run on my personal device, why not?

Some of the applications within AppsAnywhere are restricted by licensing, location, and the type of operating system/computer you're using.

Certain software packages have licenses restrictions which only allow for on campus use, or college-owned computer use.

On the AppsAnywhere Portal page hover your mouse over an app and click "More Info"

Click on "Restrictions" tab and you will see a Red or Green check mark showing whether the app is allowed or not and the reason why.

How can I stop the Cloudpaging Player from launching when I start Windows?

By default the Cloudpaging Player will run in the background when Windows boots up. If you want to prevent this and only run the player when you need it, follow these instructions:

Open the Cloudpaging Player, Click File, Options.

On the general tab, uncheck “Start Cloudpaging Player when Windows starts”.
