Faculty and students can access Cambrian software through our AppsAnywhere portal. This will provide them access to either easily install the application itself or to run it virtually on their own system. Please follow the below steps to access:
1.) Navigate to the portal: https://appsanywhere.cambriancollege.ca/
You'll need to sign in with your Cambrian College computer/email credentials:
Faculty: first initial, middle inital, last name along with your password
Students: 'A' number along with your password
2.) If this is your first time accessing AppsAnywhere, you'll need to install our Cloudpaging Player. This will automatically begin if you select the "It's my first time using" option. If you've already signed in and accessed an application on your system, you can select the "I've already used AppsAnywhere" option and skip to step 7.
3.) The download will automatically start. You can select the defaults for all options and complete the installation.
4.) Once the installation is done, you'll be brought to the AppsAnywhere application portal. You will see the list of all software that you have access to. You'll need to be validated once you reach this step. This is done through the software you just installed. You can select the "Open AppsAnywhere launcher" pop up. There will also be a message at the bottom letting you know that it will take a moment to communicate with AppsAnywhere. You can check the "Don't show this again" box at the bottom right if you don't need this prompt again.
5.) During this process, the Cloudpaging Player will automatically open and complete the validation process. You will see this pop up appear after a moment or two.
6.) Once the the validation is done, you'll be able to navigate through the software titles in the portal. If you hover over a tile, you'll be able to access applications required for coursework. There's a handy search bar at the top right to help you find what you need. Some applications may not necessarily be visible to all students, so please contact your instructor if you don't have access to what you need. Also, some software will run virtually through the Cloudpaging Player you just installed, while other tiles will re-direct you to a download website for easy installation.
7.) When you hover over an application, you'll either see "Launch" or "Visit Website" (skip to Step 14). You'll also see which operating systems are supported (icons above the app). You can also pin an app to your favourites by clicking on the star. In this case, we're going to Launch Caseware.
8.) After clicking Launch, the Cloudpaging Player will access and virtualize the app for you. The list of applications in the Player will grow as you continue to launch apps. The apps will also be added to your Start menu for easy access. You can choose to launch from there or the player. You can also stop or remove applications from the player at your convenience.
9.) The application's initial launch may be immediate, or might take a couple of minutes depending on its size and complexity. The more you continue to launch and use an application, the better performance will be. We ask that you please keep this in mind; it's normal to see the Status sit at "Vitualizing (100%)" the first time you open a large app.
10.) The app will then launch and you'll be able to use it at your convenience.
11.) You can close the Cloudpaging Player any time. It will run in the background and be available as an icon on the bottom right of your Windows Taskbar.
12.) Certain applications will require VPN access for licensing issues. Your faculty member can advise you if that's the case.
13.) Depending on the size of the application the virtualization process can take up to 5 minutes the first time you launch it.
14.) If, when you hover over the app tile, you see the "Visit Website" option, you will be redirected to the software's download page to install it. Only free applications that don't require Cambrian licensing will use this option. You can follow the instructions on the website to complete the installation as they will vary.
