Banner 9: Application Navigator and Firefox 102.0

The symptom in Banner 9 Application Navigator (also known as AppNav) is a message indicating the following:

Service Invocation Failed

Couldn't access remote service.

With Firefox 102.0, the settings for Enhanced Tracking Protection may be set to Standard or Strict, which could isolate cross-site cookies causing issues using Banner 9 Application Navigator. Because AppNav is not configured to address cookies properly in our environment, this setting in Firefox may be required as a temporary work around.

  1. Verify Firefox is on version 102.0. In Firefox, Open Application Menu > Help > About Firefox. If on version 102.0, proceed.

  2. In the address bar, go to about:preferences#privacy. (Alternatively, Open Application Menu > Settings > Privacy & Security).
  3. Change the Enhanced Tracking Protection setting to Custom.
  4. In the drop down menu for cookies, select Cross-site tracking cookies.

  5. After making the change Firefox may indicate that you will need to Reload All Tabs, please do this.

  6. Attempt to use AppNav again, the Service Invocation Failed error should go away.
  7. If it doesn't go away, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox may be required.
