IT Acceptable Use Policy Summary

The computing systems and technology resources of Cambrian College are intended to support and enhance the mission of the college and its community. Access is a privilege to be used in effective, ethical and lawful ways that support the values of the college.

To summarize:

  • Technology resources are to be used in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Technology resources are to be used in a fair and equitable manner. Resources are not to be monopolized.
  • College provided accounts are to be used responsibly.
  • You may not physically connect unauthorized equipment to, or tamper with, college technology resources.
  • You may not move technology resources without proper authorization.
  • You may not use technology resources for personal financial gain.
  • You may not use technology resources for unethical purposes including the creation, transmission, storage, access or viewing of materials which in any way contributes to, supports or promotes actions prohibited on the basis of harassment and/or discrimination.
  • You may not install or modify software unless specifically authorized to do so.
  • The use of Cambrian College computing resources is a privilege which may be revoked by the college at any time for abusive conduct or fraudulent use. Violations can subject to disciplinary action and in some cases legal prosecution.
