How to Disable Skype for Business from Auto-Starting

This article explains how to stop Skype for Business from automatically starting when you log in to Windows. You can disable this feature either through Skype for Business settings or by turning it off in Windows Startup Apps.

Option 1: Disable via Skype for Business Settings

  1. Launch Skype for Business.

  2. Click the gear icon (⚙) in the top-right corner

  3. In the Options window, select Personal from the left-hand menu.

  4. Under the My account section, uncheck:

    • Automatically start the app when I log on to Windows

    • Start the app in the foreground

  5. Click OK to save your changes, then close Skype for Business.

    Option 2: Disable via Windows Startup Apps

  6. Click the Windows Start menu and type Startup Apps in the search bar and Select the one showing as in screen shot below.

  7. Find Skype for Business in the list of apps and toggle the switch to Off.
